Last updated: 2 September 2026. This is a first working draft prepared to get AgriFeeds operational — it has not yet been reviewed by a South African attorney and should not be treated as final legal advice. Review and sign-off is still needed before this governs real transactions at scale.
AgriFeeds (“AgriFeeds”, “we”, “us”, “our”) operates agrifeeds.co.za, an online marketplace connecting South African farmers selling feed and forage products (lucern, hay, teff, grass, straw, pellets, and animal feed) with buyers, and connecting both with independent transporters who move goods between farms and buyers.
AgriFeeds is a marketplace, not a seller. Products listed on AgriFeeds are sold by the individual farmer or seller who lists them, not by AgriFeeds. AgriFeeds does not grow, produce, store, inspect, or take ownership of any product listed on the platform. Each seller is solely responsible for the accuracy of their listings and the quality, condition, and lawful sale of their own products.
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a legally binding contract under South African law to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for all activity under your account.
AgriFeeds supports three account types — Buyer, Farmer (Seller), and Transporter — and a single account may hold more than one role. Farmer and Transporter accounts are subject to a verification process before their listings, job-board access, or transport jobs go fully live; AgriFeeds may request supporting documentation as part of that process and may decline or revoke verification at its discretion.
AgriFeeds charges a commission on the value of each completed sale made through the platform. The commission is not a single fixed number — it is calculated according to a tiered schedule based on a seller’s own rolling monthly sales volume through AgriFeeds: the more a seller sells in a month, the lower their commission rate for that period. The current tiers and rates are published in each seller’s own account dashboard and are set and may be changed from time to time by AgriFeeds, with reasonable notice given through the dashboard before a change takes effect. Individual product categories or specific sellers may carry a different commission rate where AgriFeeds has expressly agreed this in writing or configured it in the seller’s account.
Where a transporter completes a delivery arranged through AgriFeeds, a separate transport commission (if any) may apply to the transport fee, on the same basis: published, adjustable by AgriFeeds with notice, and visible to the transporter before they accept a job.
Commission is deducted before funds are released to the seller or transporter. AgriFeeds does not charge buyers a separate platform fee beyond the listed product price and any delivery fee shown at checkout.
Sellers must list only products they lawfully own or are authorised to sell, and must describe quantity, condition, grade, and origin accurately. Misleading listings, counterfeit claims, or products that are unsafe, contaminated, or otherwise unfit for their described purpose are prohibited and may result in listing removal and account suspension.
Where a product carries a grade (for example, lucern Grade A/B/C), the grade and any mixed-composition description entered by the seller is the seller’s own representation and AgriFeeds does not independently verify it.
Orders are placed and paid for through AgriFeeds’ checkout. Payment is processed by AgriFeeds’ third-party payment gateway; AgriFeeds does not store your full card details. A buyer may choose collection from the farm or delivery, where the seller and/or a transporter offers it, subject to the fulfilment options and delivery radius each seller sets.
Risk in the goods passes to the buyer on collection from the farm or on delivery, whichever applies. Buyers should inspect goods at that point and raise any issue with the seller (and AgriFeeds, if unresolved) promptly.
Transporters accept delivery jobs at their own discretion and are independent contractors, not employees or agents of AgriFeeds. AgriFeeds facilitates the connection and payment for a transport job but is not a party to, and does not guarantee, the transport service itself.
Reviews may only be left by a buyer who has completed a verified purchase from that farm. Reviews must be honest and relate to an actual transaction. AgriFeeds may remove reviews that are fraudulent, abusive, or unrelated to a real order.
Disputes between a buyer and a seller, or between a seller/buyer and a transporter, should first be raised directly with the other party. Where that doesn’t resolve the issue, either party may escalate it to AgriFeeds through the platform’s moderation/dispute process, and AgriFeeds may investigate, mediate, and where appropriate suspend an account pending resolution. AgriFeeds’ decision in a dispute is made in good faith but is not a substitute for a party’s own legal rights.
To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, AgriFeeds is not liable for the quality, safety, legality, or fitness for purpose of any product listed by a seller, for the acts or omissions of any seller, buyer, or transporter, or for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the platform. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 where it applies.
AgriFeeds collects and processes personal information (name, contact details, farm/company details, order and payment history) as needed to operate the marketplace, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). A full Privacy Policy setting out what is collected, why, and a user’s rights over their own data will be published separately — until then, information is used only to operate your account, process orders, and communicate with you about them, and is not sold to third parties.
AgriFeeds may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, engages in fraudulent or abusive conduct, or fails verification. A user may close their own account at any time; outstanding orders, payouts, and disputes are settled before closure takes effect.
AgriFeeds may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be flagged on the platform, and continued use of AgriFeeds after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and any dispute not resolved under section 8 is subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
Questions about these terms can be sent through the contact details published on the AgriFeeds website.
